8V Kat street version (1990)

Engine

Cast iron block, aluminum head construction. Transversally mounted.

1995 cm3 84mm bore 90mm stroke, 4 inline cylinders, water cooled. 250 Bhp@6000 rev/min, 350 NM@3700rev/min. Compression ratio 7.5:1. Garrett AiResearch T03 (60/48) oil lubricated, water cooled turbo (1.5 bar max. pressure) and intercooler. 2 OHC belt driven. 2 valves per cylinder (65°). Oil cooler. Weber-Marelli IAW integral engine management (injection and ignition). Modified engine management. Group A camshafts and valve train (followers). 200lt/h fuel pump.   Compression ratio 7.5:1. Three way catalytic converter and Lamda sensor.

Weber-Marelli IAW integral engine management (injection and ignition). Compression ratio 7.5:1. Three way catalytic converter and Lamda sensor.

Transmission All wheel drive. Center viscous coupler, Torsen rear differential. Epicyclical center differential with 47-53 % F/R torque distribution (I use the 16V version center differential). Final drive ratio 4.0714(modified). Five speed fully synchronized gear box.

Rack and pinion steering, power assisted, 2.8 turns lock to lock.

All wheel drive. Center viscous coupler, Torsen rear differential. Epicyclical center differential with 54-46 % F/R torque distribution. Final drive ratio 3.111. Five speed fully synchronized gear box.

Miscellaneous

Lower ride than the original car (-30mm). Battery placed in the boot. K&N air filter. Reinforced chassis with front and rear strut braces. Engine sump and rear differential protected by aluminum guards. Reinforced rear suspension.

 
Comment

The car is very vivid and quick. Requires some getting used to though.

I think the 8V version has more "rage" below 5000 rpm. The 16V is more at ease above that limit.
